President issues pardon for Oregon rancher

President Trump has pardoned Oregon ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond.  The Hammonds were involved in a dispute with federal authorities over federal land usage and were convicted in 2016 of using fire to destroy federal property.  Their sentence is said to have inspired Ammon Bundy to lead an armed standoff in 2016 when the group of armed men broke into the headquarters of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon.

American Farm Bureau president Zippy Duvall says today’s announcement gives the organization hope for justice in environmental law enforcement and they’re happy to see this chapter of governmental overreach come to a close.
