Prevent Cruelty California Campaign approved for November ballot

The Prevent Cruelty California campaign that is pushing for larger space requirements for laying hens, veal calves and breeding hogs will be added to California’s November ballot.

If voted in, the initiative would require all eggs sold in California to come from birds given at least 144 square inches of space, which meets the United Egg Producers’ cage-free standard. It would require all California poultry operations to convert to cage-free systems by the end of 2019.
