Ag groups welcome passage of Senate farm bill

Many ag groups say they are pleased that the Senate passed its version of the farm bill Thursday evening.

National Corn Growers Association president Kevin Skunes says the passage of the farm bill is a step closer to providing farmers certainty as they face market disruption and a down farm economy.

“It’s an overall good thing that it appears we are going down the road of maybe getting a Farm Bill passed in this year.”

The North Dakota farmer tells Brownfield NCGA was pleased that the amendment to reduce premium subsidies by Illinois Senator Richard Durbin and Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley wasn’t included in the bill.
