AFBF leader says down farm economy plays major role in trade talks

The director of market intelligence with American Farm Bureau Federation says the tit-for-tat trade war continues to impact farmers at a time when the ag economy is at a 12-year low.

“That’s taking money out of these markets when you think about soybean prices losing 10 percent over a two week period, dairy markets have lost 10 percent over a 2-3 week period,” he says. “That’s real money to farmers and ranchers.”

John Newton says that’s why farmers need access to markets more than ever.
